Take my Cell Phone … Please!

Anyone interested in a very-excellent condition LG vx8300 (one of the best phones ever, according to C|net) with only 17 months left on the contract? I’m leaving Verizon Wireless for Sprint ($30 = 500 minutes / unlimited nights & weekends / 7pm nights / unlimited text / unlimited picture messaging / unlimited data / national LD & roaming), which means I need to unload my cell phone. I’ll let you have it for free, and I’ll include the home charger, car charger, a belt clip holster, an extremely rugged, stylish, water-resistant pouch, and the USB data / charging cable.

You only need to assume the 17 months remaining on my contract. If you were to buy this at a Verizon Wireless store today, you’d pay at least $50 for the phone + at least $90 for the accessories + sign a 24-month contract (at least!). This is known as an “assumption of liability”, and is very common. You’ll take full responsibility for the remaining 17 months. You’ll start with a zero balance. I will have no access to your account; my name will be completely removed. You can even get a new phone number for free. If you’re understandably weary of such a great deal, call your local Verizon Wireless store directly and ask them to explain how an “assumption of liability” works.

If you’re interested, drop me a line via the “Contact” button above, or reach me via Gmail (my address is my domain name).

Otherwise, if you’re interested in joining the plan, check out Sprint’s SERO plans.  Use the email address “savings@sprint.com”.  Note that you will need a Lancaster or Reading shipping address, such as a UPS Store.

FAKE EDIT: As a bonus, I’ll include an original LG extended battery. This will give you a ridiculous amount of talk and standby time. You will have to buy an extended battery door (or use it exposed; not recommended), which runs around five bucks.

  • Thanks for the link! My VZW contract is up at the end of August and I am considering jumping ship for the SERO plan. Only thing is that I’m not real thrilled with the choice of phones…had my eye on the LG VX8700 (which also got good reviews). I’ve had LG’s for the past four years and have really liked them. The prospect of saving serious money on my cell phone bill is quite attractive, though.

  • I’ve been a big fan of LGs as well. Sprint’s LG selection is somewhat lacking, but their Samsung line is actually pretty decent. In fact, I’ve found that Verizon tends to get all the good LGs and lukewarm Samsungs, while Sprint gets all the good Samsungs and lukewarm LGs. Check out the Katana II, the m610 (if it’s still available; different phones are available if you call in to order), the Upstage, or the Sanyo 7050. There’s also a Fusic II coming under a different name that was getting rave reviews, probably in the end of August.
