Duke’s Riverside (or The Riverside G-Man, as roughly 99% of us locals still call it) has always been an integral part of living here. It’s not particularly trendy and it’s not particularly cheap. But it does have a deck, it is easy to get to, and most of the food is pretty good awesome. In fact, it’s an all-around excellent place to spend a lazy summer afternoon eating & drinking. I don’t know of anybody who actually hates going there; it’s the one place that most people can agree on most of the time. So with the first really nice weekend upon us, my party of three ventured out to the deck this afternoon for dinner, drinks, and what wound up being the worst experience I’ve ever had there.

After finding out that my MySQL backups from bH were corrupt (as well as all of my backups from all of my domains for the last few months), and after taking steps to ensure that this sort of thing doesn’t happen again, I was finally able to fix blogHarrisburg today. Due to the loss of the database backups, I won’t be able to “fix” the existing mangled posts. New posts, however, should work just fine. If you want the technical explanation, read on — if not, rest assured that your local new media source will resume normal functionality right about …NOW!

After I get home from the gym tonight, I’m going to reinstall WP and reload a pre-2.5 database backup of blogHarrisburg. The author of FWP doesn’t appear to have a fix or an update anytime soon. Bear with me for a few more hours; everything will be bright and sunny tomorrow.
EDIT - Got tied up with a few things last night and didn’t get to restore the database. That’ll happen tonight. Also, the sites will be unavailable for a few minutes beginning around 3am every Monday morning for the weekly drive imaging.

It’s hardly a surprising headline; bloggers are often the subject of legal bullying over a post that someone doesn’t like. The sad reality is that since many bloggers don’t entirely understand how the legal system works, let alone how to get a lawsuit or subpoena thrown out, this strategy is often an endgame and a victory for the litigious party. Although more and more organizations are learning (the hard way) that taking a blogger to court over trivial matters can be a PR fiasco at best, a handful still haven’t. Take the case of blogger Kathleen Seidel.

A handful of posts on blogHarrisburg have decided to go wiggly lately. I thought I had the problem nailed on Sunday, but apparently it wasn’t so. I’ve made a few final adjustments to the site today and hopefully everything will be back to normal. I’ve also temporarily returned to the previous theme; the new theme was automatically trimming long posts, and while it shouldn’t have made a difference, it’s worth a shot. If everything doesn’t return to normal, or if the plugin author doesn’t update the code within a week, I’ll roll bH back to the previous version of WordPress.

I’m not a big fan of Sasha and Digweed. But I’m also not one to turn down a trip to NYC, especially when it’s my first visit to the legendary Webster Hall. So after confirming that the Fit can comfortably seat three adults plus cargo, we jumped on 81 and took 78 straight into the city. A two-and-a-half-hour jaunt later, which included but was not limited to actually managing to get lost in the Holland Tunnel (which is technically impossible), we arrived. $12 to park for the night — a steal in Manhattan — in a garage that was only three blocks from the club. Excellent!
