Name That Quote

Let’s play a game. We live in a world of constant political commentary, where any person who can read a list of talking points and open his or her mouth to spew them out generally becomes regarded as a definitive political authority. And it often seems that there’s no shortage of off-the-wall, outlandish, even asinine quotes flowing through the media. For example, see if you can correctly attribute this quote:
“What I find most disturbing about these stories is that some of the news media take it upon themselves to disclose vital national security programs, thereby making it more difficult … to prevent future attacks against the American people. That offends me.”
Right-wing talk show host? Late-night ultra-conservative TV show? Fox News report? It may help to understand the context of the quote. According to the Baltimore Sun, this was spoken during a political lunch in Chicago. Give up? The source is none other than vice president Dick Cheney.
We still have people who accuse the mass media of having a liberal bias. Given quotes like this, it’s hard to imagine that any such bias would even be needed.
Back to the nightlife tomorrow. MMC10 is underway, and I hope to have some decent pics tonight.
