Superbowl ads

The best collection of the SuperBowl ads is on Google:  http://video.google.com/superbowl.html.  Unlike other sites that charge you to view the ads, or that show you ads before the ads, Google is completely free.  In addition, most of them can be downloaded to your ‘pod.  Enjoy!

Also, there’s a bit of commotion going on over at the major news aggregator sites — Fark, Digg, etc — about how oppressed and censored this year’s SuperBowl was, and how tame the commercials all were, and how it’s all the fault of the FCC, and how none of this would have happened if Janet had just kept her clothes on.  Now, really — has there ever been an ultra-risque SuperBowl halftime show?  It’s not like Britney vs Aerosmith was hardcore extreme cutting-edge envelope-pushing stuff.  Janet and Justin?  Just plain boring.

The halftime shows have always been lukewarm.  The advertising has always been funny at best.  Nothing has ever been shocking, scandalous, risque, or really even remotely suggestive, ever.  GoDaddy is screaming bloody murder about how they had a dozen ads rejected, but have you seen them?  They were all just stupid.  Do you really think that the commercial featuring the GoDaddy Girl testifying was pornographic?  Really?  I’ve seen more sexually-charged performances at City Council meetings.  The commercials & performances from this year and last were just as bland and safe as they have been in years past.  Funny, yeah.  Shocking, no.

QuietAgent.com had a great commercial that, for reasons unknown, did not get aired.  Their site had an explanation as to why it was not aired, but both it and the commercial have mysteriously vanished.  Hmmm.  Google, ever the purveyor of your first amendment rights, has sucked the video into their archive and has it on display here.  Funny stuff!
