Around

Yep, I’m still here.  Hard to believe it’s been almost a month since my last update.  I haven’t gone that long in at least a year (though anyone who was with me way back in ‘03 and ‘02 has seen worse).  In my defense, I’ve been more than a little busy getting my new career off the ground (very well, thank you), finishing my degree (four classes away, thank you), and launching two new websites.  In a few more days, I’ll get around to catching up with the rest of the local bloggers, but for now, let me tell you all about these new sites:

First on the list is HarrisburgBlogs.com.  HarrisburgBlogs is exactly what the domain name implies: a directory of Harrisburg-area blogs, forums, photojournals, and whatnots.  While there are a few lists floating around out there, none of them are easy to find unless you know exactly where you’re looking to begin with.  And with a domain this simple, I really had no choice.  Go take a look, and if you have your own site, by all means — add it!

The other site is blogHarrisburg.com, and this one is a little different.  I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with this domain.  The obvious idea of having a community-collaborative blog sounds like fun, but god help whoever got tasked with moderating it — I know *I* certainly don’t have time.  Intead, I did the next best thing — the Harrisburg wiki.  Right at this moment, I’m deciding between two Wiki engines — DokuWiki and TikiWiki.  Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, and I’m interested in hearing what you think.  You can view them here:

For now, there’s not much content on either.  Those of you familiar with wiki-style editing can feel free to contribute and play around; those of you who aren’t are still welcome to provide any feedback on style or ease-of-use.  Either leave a comment here, or email dave@floor-9.com.
All of the sites have a lot of adjustments coming down the line, but I’ve been sitting on the domains since Sara and I made our coffee run back in the early days of summer.  I couldn’t stand the thought of letting those two premium domains sit idle any longer.  For now, enjoy and let me know what you think.
