Intelliflix Complaint
By floor9 on Jun 29, 2007 in Media, Rant, Technology
UPDATE: As of early 2008, Intelliflix appears to be out of business. Their website is still up, but the ability to sign up as a new customer has been removed. Thanks to the efforts of the Florida Attorney General, a settlement was reached and restitution — albeit very minor — was made to some consumers. If you feel that you have been harmed by Intelliflix in any way, you should IMMEDIATELY contact your state’s Attorney General and request assistance in resolving your issue. It appears that Intelliflix may be (or may soon be) completely out of money; thus, any claim you make should be done as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who commented and kept the rest of us updated on this matter! The original post follows:
Attention everyone who arrives at this page while searching for Intelliflix:
I am now on the first page for anyone Googling for “Intelliflix”. If you’ve had bad experiences with Intelliflix, you can do your fellow consumers a favor by responding this and/or the other Intelliflix posts on my blog.ÂGenerally speaking I discourage cross-commenting, but given my recent Google upgrade, I almost feel as if it’s my duty.
As always, avoid Intelliflix. Back to downtown this week.

Intelliflix is the worst service ever, I have not received a movie in 3 weeks and have over 30 movies in my que. I have written to them via the online trouble ticket 10 times and they keep delaying and wont give me a telephone number or email address to contact any of the executive staff. DO NOT join this service. I repeat DO NOT join, it will e a waste of your money. Get Netflix if you want a reputable online DVD renatl company.

When I signed up with Intelliflix back in February 2006, they were rated number 1 by consumer report. So I gave them a try at their 2 weeks trial. I was very pleased with their service, selection, and speed. So I signed up for annual membership. At the time, their terms and conditions stated that one can cancel their membership at anytime and for unused annual membership will be refunded after cancellation. So I figured that I have nothing to lose by going that way. In February 2007, my annual membership was renewed. At the time I did send them an email that I’m considering not renewing because their speed have been gradually slowing down on sending out titles in my queue. But before the renewal, they seem to have picked up the speed again. So I went ahead with the renewal. For the past few months, their selection has trinkled down. In the last week alone, many of the titles have disappeared. Many of the titles in my queue are no longer available in both the search and browse (but they’re still in my queue). So I’m considering cancelling my membership. But when I checked, guess what, they changed their terms and condition so that there’s no refunds what-so-ever for any cancellations. So now I’m stuck with them until February 2008. If there’s any class action law suit out their against them, you can count me in. Now I’m stuck with their crappy service, selection, and speed. I had to go and add a bunch of old titles that I don’t really care for so I can still get my money’s worth for the next 5 months. What a pain. So if you’re considering joining Intelliflix, DON’T! Go with Netflix or Blockbuster. Personally, I prefer Blockbuster as I’m only a few blocks away from one and I can use their Total Access to the max. Good luck.

I have identical stories to the above. Intelliflix service slowed over the first year but picked up service the month or two before renewal then slowed down again.
Now I have had no movies for over 3 weeks and have not had 3 movies checked out at the same time for over two months.
Looks like service for subscribers is barely tolerable after renewal. Then declines as the year goes on. After the point that you can’t cancel the subscription for the remainder of the year and obtain a refund the movies stop.
I have over 70 movies in my qeue. I definitely will drop Intelliflix.

Same story here, I see the Florida Attorney General has filed suit against them now as well. Someone file a lawsuit and get it upgraded to a class action, I’m sure we’ll all be in. . .
Service started GREAT, I was raving to everyone about it, but now, movies come 1 at a time, only when I complain, I have 37 titles in queue, and 24 of them are listed as “high demand, low supply” in the “alternate queue”. . .

I also agree with the responses above. Intelliflix is a total SCAM!!! I have not received a movie since mid-July (2 months). I have submitted various tickets asking for a phone number or someone call me back and they simply provide excuses. At first their excuse was that I had selected mainly newer titles in high demand or that I didn’t have enough titles in my Queue. I added more titles including some movies that are not necessarily newer releases and it made no difference. The last ticket I submitted to them I asked that my membership be cancelled and to reimburse the unused portion. They responded that they would not renew my membership at the end of its cycle but that they would not cancel now or reimburse any of it. I’m there if a class action suit is filed!!!

I have both Netflix and Intelliflix services and I have only had trouble with Intelliflix. Same story, their service starts out good for a while then totally slows down. Intelliflix is a BAD choice for renting movies online. Do not rent from them go with either Blockbuster or Netflix. They are both a lot better. And if anyone does file a class action suit against them let me know I’m with on it.

Same here, this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have received the same story’s about not enough in my Q (71) movies are to new, and the latest, we understand and have shipped out the 1st choise from your Q list, that was 5 days ago and my rental status show no movie shipped nor have I received a movie in more the 6 weeks.
How did they receive a #1 rating? Any way to stop this company or person from &%#$*@ anyone else COUNT ME IN. DO NOT JOIN WATCH PBS at least you will not loss your money.

Same problems here. Its been a full month since a movie has been sent to us. I have found a phone number for Intelliflix it is 561-697-8325, I have gotten to customer service in the past few months but as of recently no one answers. Has anyone heard any more about the lawsuit against them? This is one I would love to jump onto since we are all paying for a service and getting NOTHING!!!

Intelliflix is now out of business and their web site has been down for over 5 days as of Oct 17.

Apparently my prior post was incorrect — their site is still up, they’ve just blocked me from accessing it from any of my 4 computers since I cancelled my account. I can access from a friend’s computer. I was trying to confirm they showed my last DVD had been returned, but no luck. Changing my IP address and deleting obvious cookies (those with “intelliflix” in the name) did not help. Nasty trick?

Renewing my subscription with Intelliflix for another year has been a huge mistake! The service level has drastically declines in recent months, as I have dozens of titles in my queue but nothing has been sent in many weeks. If there is a class action suit pending, I would love to join in!

I suggest anyone affected to make contact with The Attorney General’s Office for The State of Florida and make a formal complaint.

It is true, Intelliflix was fine for a month and then went useless. I queued movie after movie but none were available for shipping. I had a huge queue and was lucky if I got one movie a month despite the 2 out at time annual plan. Not only would they not let me cancel, they billed me for another full year and thought it is almost up I haven’t gotten more than a dozen movies over the year. Now I see why it has been months since I have gotten my token one a month. They are horrible, but they haven’t stopped their website. I hope they start up and give me the service I paid for.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. We have sent notorized material to the FL Atty General to become part of the lawsuit. I am sure we will not get money back as Intelliflix will probably claim to be bankrupt. I have received less than 20 movies in 8 months. I am averaging about 2 a month, it would have been cheaper to drive to the video store and get them there.

They are a RIPOFF! I have not received any movies since October 07. We are locked in until April 15th 08. I have already emailed a cancellation notice but awaiting confirmation. Based on their past, I may have to cancel my credit card on file with them in order to cancel their deduction.

At 1st I thought Inttelliflix was good idea because the family back in New York tend to like the adult movies alot but time I watch them. My family in Mexico wanted to see them and I return them same day I got them and still took forever get any new movies sent to me.Intelliflix is the worst service, I have ever dealt with in my lifetime. This company is slowing than anything I could think of. I had over 100 different movies in my queue and it took them 4 weeks to send 2 movies in the mail. Then I though being on a hoilday just very busy. So I wrote them a email and explain the situation and they said it was just a oversight on their part so it took them another 6 weeks to send 2 other movies. Their service was very poor, and I would not recommend it to anybody. DO NOT join this service. I repeat DO NOT join, it will e a waste of your money. I rather go to movie store then dealt with this big headache of online movie service. They were so slow in realeasing any movies to my account.

Apparently Intelliflix has a policy of providing minimal service for the first few months and then ignoring the customer. In June 2007 they billed my credit card for a year at $3.99 a month, a plan that should have entitled me to 24 DVDs throughout the year. I received only nine during the first five months, all of them far down on my queue, and my complaints consisted of vaguely worded form e-mails promising that a DVD would be sent “soon.” Eventually there was no communication. When I complained to the Florida Office of Consumer Protection, the company refused to cooperate with the state agency. Have nothing to do with these dishonest people.

Another ditto here. The web site is still up and operational, although, NO dvds are being shipped!
Contacted them 45 days ago and was able to add 30 days to my subscription, but, what good it that when nothing is being shipped.
I check in twice a day and notice that my queue kepps changing (howmany avaible and how many ‘waiting’). I have 151 titles total in my queue, so I know there is plenty to choose from.
My next task is to get a refund from my “Superpass” subscription. I will post again if and when any results are had.
My final note and recommendation is to STAY AWAY FROM INTELLIFLIX!

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased a membership a year ago. For the first year, the service was acceptable. Then they billed me for the coming year. I paid them $106+. Since that time, I have recieved no DVD’s. Complaints got no results, so I requested a refund. The refund was denied. Now they are off line. Apparently, I have been scammed.

I cancelled my membership 6 months ago because of awful, awful service. My membership does not expire until 5-10-08, so they will not cancel until that time. Since January 17th, 2007 they have not sent me even one movie. My queue has over one hundred movies in it. I complained to customer service and their response was that they were busy with inventory and could not send any movies at this time. I just sent the shipping department another complaint. I am sure I will get another unacceptable response from them. Do you think it would help to send a press-release informing the public that “INTELLIFLIX REFUSES TO SEND MOVIES” to pre-paid customers?

I have not rec’d movies in over three months. Unfortunately, I prepaid for two years of service. In my first year so far I have not rec’d more than a dozen movies and months apart. Intelliflix needs to be sued in every state in the U.S. and the owner tarred and feathered.

I filed a complaint against Intelliflix with the Florida Attorney General Office on March 10th. On March 17 I received a letter from them informing me that they “have completed a civil investigation into the activities of Inteliflix, Inc. And that pursuant to a settlement agreement reached with Intelliflix, the company refrained from conducting business, and due to the financial condition of the company, an agreement to make restitution in the amount of $1,500 to be distributed among consumers was reached. Restitution is being disbursed to consumers based on the order in which complaints and affidavits were received by this Office. Unfortunately the $1,500 is now depleted.”
Therefore, Intelliflix has been closed down and it is too late for anyone else to receive any restitution.
