Intelliflix Lawsuit

UPDATE:  As of early 2008, Intelliflix appears to be out of business.  Their website is still up, but the ability to sign up as a new customer has been removed.  Thanks to the efforts of the Florida Attorney General, a settlement was reached and restitution — albeit very minor — was made to some consumers.  If you feel that you have been harmed by Intelliflix in any way, you should IMMEDIATELY contact your state’s Attorney General and request assistance in resolving your issue.  It appears that Intelliflix may be (or may soon be) completely out of money; thus, any claim you make should be done as soon as possible.  Thanks to everyone who commented and kept the rest of us updated on this matter!  The original post follows:

In case you somehow missed them, I — and a lot of other people — have had a lot of complaints about Intelliflix. Now, it seems that our complaints and suffering have come to fruition. The Attorney General of the State of Florida has filed a lawsuit against Intelliflix, alleging that Intelliflix’s marketing was blatantly deceptive.

This is, in a word, awesome. As you may recall, Intelliflix advertises with phrases like “cancel anytime” and “rush delivery in 1-3 business days”. Unfortunately, “cancel anytime” actually means “cancel anytime, but we’ll continue to bill you for a period of at least one year”. And “1-3 business days” actually means “within three weeks, more or less”. They suckered me in for a subscription, but thanks to our Attorney General, Intelliflix grudgingly agreed to give me a refund. Obviously, I was not the only one to complain to the AG.

I’m only posting this because I still get a boatload of links into my Intelliflix posts, as evidenced by their still-growing comments. Amusingly, if you google Intelliflix, floor9 is on the front page (as of right now, anyway).

If you’ve had problems with Intelliflix and want to do something about it, contact your state’s Attorney General and file a complaint. Additionally, by linking to this or my other Intelliflix posts (Intelliflix Complaint, Intelliflix Sucks - The Conclusion, and Avoid Intelliflix), you’ll help push this message into view to more people. Finally, tell all your friends about your experiences. The hardest way to hit Intelliflix is through their subscriber count. I personally now use Blockbuster and love it — I have a new movie within 2 or 3 days of dropping my old ones off at the store. Awesome!

  6. I have been with Intelliflix for over 2 years. In the past year, they keep telling me that the DVD’s I ask for are in “HIGH DEMAND”. I have over 70 in my QUEUE. When they have sent me DVD’s they’ve always been the bottom favorites, not recent issues. I have not received a movie for 3 months and prior to that it was intermittent. They really ripped us ALL off.

  8. I signed up in October for 3 dvds at a time. The first 3 months I was fairly satisfied with the service. I have not received a movie in at least a month and I am unable to browse the site- it is messed up. The security certificate has also expired for the site.

  9. How would I go about getting my money back? I’ve been with them since April and I have not received a movie since November 26th. Overall I have received 1 game and 42 movies. I have 46 movies in queue but as i mentioned, have not received on in 3 months. I signed up for the year plan. I have written 2 email complaints to them but all they do is reply back with a generic email stating they are doing their best basically. What would you suggest?

  11. I have not seen a DVD since Sept and that was one and should have been three. I sent the Fla state attorney general information though and am part of the suit. I have not heard any more but it beats sending emails to get auto replies. Try writing something to get them upset. No one reads them. There is no listed phone number but they are in Miami but never had a business license.
