The Fire Report

Today I went down to my friendly neighborhood fire house and picked up my copy of the report from my neighbor’s recent house fire.

Dispatched for location given for a reported structure fire with numerous calls.  Engine ## arrived to find a working fire showing on side A & B also smoke rolling across the street.  Tanker ## arrived shortly after, assumed command & supplied Engine ##.  Engine ### dispatched and established a fill site.  Engine ## crew pulled two handlines both 1 3/4″.  One went interior with a crew and one was used outside the residence.  All ouucpants were then found out of the residence.  Crew continued to fight the fire with 4 handlines and help from the above mutual aid.  Second handline was working the exterior to protect the neighboring exposure.  Control was marked at 16:32 hours.  Upon the Fire Marshall’s arrival he then went to do his walk around.  After his investigation crews began overhaul operations on the interior & exterior of the building.  During the incident I sent Engine ##’s crew to (my address) to check for extension due to melting of siding.  Nothing was found on the interior, however, substantial damage to the exterior siding was caused by the radiant heat from the fire building.  Approx 12,500 gallons of water.  Fire building is total loss.

  1. Nothing like a trip to Vegas to help forget about a house fire!

    Bet it all on “red”!

  2. Heck yes. We landed a pretty sweet deal at one of the newer properties on the strip at $366 a pop for six days, including roundtrip air from BWI and all taxes. I’m going to withhold the name until we go, so everybody doesn’t go check it out on Travelocity and jack up the rate; the other half of the party has yet to book her tickets.
